Kokopelli named the Official Best of for New Mexico Vacation Rental
Official Best Of is proud to be featuring New Mexico’s top attractions on The Official Best Of New Mexico 2009. The Official Best of New Mexico will be on KOB-NBC 4, Albuquerque at 4:00 PM on Saturday November 14th, 2009 as well as on the popular OfficialBestOf.com travel website. Kokopelli Real Estate and Property Management, Santa Fe, NM, was awarded The Official Best Of in Vacation Rentals.
The Official Best Of was started in 2004 by Executive Producer Brett Allen, a TV executive from St. Louis, Missouri, who saw a need for a researched travel resource that also provides TV features online as an additional resource for travelers, whether in-state or out-of-state- and thus, The Official Best Of was born. Each state production showcases outstanding "best" attractions in a variety of categories located throughout each state. A research staff studies online travel sites, state tourism information, CVB resources and other sources to determine whether an attraction merits the "Official Best" distinction.
One distinction that sets Official Best Of apart from many other travel sites is that it doesn't accept advertising on either its television programs or its website. The selection of attractions is entirely by merit, and lesser known but worthy attractions are given the same attention as famous ones.
As with each state production, The Official Best of New Mexico for 2009 will offer a great resource for those planning a vacation, day trip or outing for residents within the State of New Mexico and for out-of-town visitors as well. Official Best Of is currently working its way through all fifty states. Visit www.OfficialBestOf.com for more information.
Short-term rental dispute still brewing
Business Briefs August 11, 2009
Kokopelli Property Management, the largest property management team in Northern New Mexico, is taking the lead in a dispute homeowners have with the city of Santa Fe over short-term rentals.
"We have a commitment to issues affecting the Santa Fe rental market for both properties we manage as well as for other property owners who paid a permit fee in 2008. That fee required payment of $1,000 for a short-term rental permit," Charles Goodman, CEO of Kokopelli, said in a statement.
Goodman was the lead plaintiff in the case challenging the fee. A local judge upheld the ordinance, but ordered the city to reconsider the cost of permits, which is yet to happen. City Attorney Frank Katz said Monday the City Council could consider the issue by the end of the month.
Kokopelli is inviting homeowners to participate in its efforts to have the fee lowered and to get refunds for the hundreds of homeowners who paid the $1,000 fee.
For more information, contact Goodman at 988-7244.

Property managers, owners sue over city's short-term rental rules
March 5, 2008
Charlie Goodman of Kokopelli Property Management said the law hurts a significant part of the tourism industry. "The city is spending a million dollars on an advertising campaign to attract tourists to this town, and they're trying to drive them away, at least one portion of them, by doing this," he said. "And I just don't think they're tuned into it."
